Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician ensures the optimal performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of equipment-based manufacturing processes within the EDM facility. This role involves programming, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance of production equipment. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician demonstrates a solid understanding of EDM’s processes and a solutions-focused approach to resolving technical challenges efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Optimize Equipment & Processes: Ensure that equipment operates efficiently and consistently delivers high-quality output with minimal variation. The technician works to refine machine settings and workflows, ensuring smooth, reliable production.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess current processes and equipment for opportunities to increase efficiency, lower production costs, and improve product quality. Implement upgrades or process changes as needed.
- Proactive Process Control: Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to monitor key processes and take corrective actions before issues arise. This proactive approach prevents downtime and maintains process consistency.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct detailed investigations into equipment failures or process deviations to identify the root cause. Document findings, propose improvements, and ensure corrective measures are implemented effectively.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and repair production systems as needed.
- Machine Programming: Develop and maintain optimized machine programs that meet both customer and internal standards. This includes programming Conformal Coating, Selective Solder, Routing, and other machines as needed.
- Capital Project Support: Participate in evaluating and selecting new equipment or technology to be integrated into the facility. Assist with installation, testing, and implementation to ensure projects are completed successfully.

- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in electronic assembly and testing processes, identify root causes using a logical approach, and quickly learn and understand technical concepts related to electronics manufacturing.
- Solutions-Focused Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality.
- Financial Literacy: Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and assess the return on investment (ROI) of process improvements, equipment upgrades, and operational decisions to drive cost-effective manufacturing outcomes.
- Proactive Mindset: Ability to identify potential problems early and implement preventative measures to mitigate risk.
- Attention to Detail & Quality Focus: Applies a meticulous approach, recognizing that small details impact equipment reliability and product quality.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a similar field. Related education and/or experience may be considered.
- Blueprint Reading & Interpretation: Understands schematics, assembly drawings, and wiring diagrams to identify components, placement, and connections.
Preferred Qualifications
- CAD/CAM Software: Experience with CAD/CAM tools such as AutoCAD, Altium, SolidWorks for viewing and interpreting manufacturing data.
- Coordinate based programming ability: Able to program based on machine-specific X/Y coordinates.
- Electronics Assembly Processes: Familiar with SMT, through-hole, cable/harness assembly, box builds, conformal coating, selective soldering, and depaneling.
- Component Identification: Can recognize and understand the basic functions of electronic components like resistors, capacitors, ICs, and connectors.
