Summary of Role and Function:
The Wiring Assembler is responsible for coordinating and carrying out the assembly of wired panels according to established production quality standards and engineering specification. The ideal candidate must have an intermediate understanding of point to point wiring concepts and best practices, as well as, installation methods for a wide array of electrical / mechanical components.
Job Description:
Job duties are the major or most important tasks to be performed by this position. The duties must be clear and specific of the work tasks to be performed and must include the periodic schedule that is required for each task such as continuous, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or on an annual basis.
- Key Duties:
Job descriptions establish expectations and performance benchmarks and always include three (3) main parts as a minimum; 1. Key Duties, 2. Key Responsibilities and 3. Key Qualifications.
- Assemble and wire electrical components and equipment according to engineering specifications.
- Cut wire to specify lengths using wire cutters, then strip, bend, and mount wires to connect electrical units or devices within the component pan, enclosure, and/or other equipment.
- Connect wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches, and install accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using hand tools.
- Perform spot inspections throughout the process to ensure work is performed correctly the first time and that the job remains on schedule according to established due dates.
- Finish wiring and labeling in a neat and workman-like manner. Route, twist, wrap, tie, and attach wire to terminal point and equipment.
- Ensure all wiring is properly labeled, terminated, and secured.
- Work effectively with supervisors and leads to ensure jobs are completed accurately and within a timely manner.
- Effectively and accurately communicate any potential nonconformance within schematics, cabinet assembly, and /or point to point wiring within a timely manner to ensure a solution can be applied within the time frame of the project.
- Enter job production details and labor entries within the company’s Global Shop system.
- Maintain production area integrity, cleanliness, and organization according to established standards.
- Perform any other work-related duties that are assigned by supervisors and leads in a timely manner.
- Key Responsibilities:

- Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, or reports to determine material requirements or assembly instructions.
- Assemble electrical systems and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or conduit using rivets, bolts, soldering or micro-welding equipment.
- Run wire and cable according to schematics and blueprints.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications
- Clean parts, using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths
- Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for elements, wiring, or instruments.
- Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan, review work activities, or to resolve production problems
- inspect or test wiring installations, assemblies, or circuits for resistance factors or for operation and record results
- Mark and tag components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified
- Key Qualifications:
There may be a difference between the skills required to get the job and the skills required to perform the job. For example, even if our company requires candidates to have an engineering degree as a Prerequisite before our company hires them, the candidate may still need to be trained on the characteristics of the product and the tools used to produce the product. Therefore, the Job Description should also always identify the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) that each person needs to be successful in their job.
