Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other related scientific or technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
General Experience: At least 10 years of experience planning, designing, building, and implementing IT application systems. Must have led or been chief architect in a major IT applications implementation effort. Must have a strong background in software engineering principles and techniques.
Specialized Experience: At least six (6) years of experience in designing medium to large-scale sites and management of at least five Internet projects.
Personnel Preferred Experience
1 .5 years’ experience as an application architect
2. Demonstrated progression in responsibilities and roles, with experience in designing and implementing complex IT solutions within the Transportation Industry.
3. In-depth knowledge and expertise in variety of technologies relevant to the organization’s architecture needs.
4. Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or Zachman Framework.
5. Experience with cloud computing platforms, cloud-native applications in MS Azure and services.
6. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
7. Ability to create and communicate architectural visions and roadmaps to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
8. Knowledge of best practices in system architecture, design patterns, and integration strategies.
9. Ability to design solutions architectures using modern decoupled, event-based, and API- enabled frameworks.
10. Experience with implementing container management systems.
11. Active mid to advanced cloud certification (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)
Substitution of Education for Experience
A bachelor’s degree or higher may be substituted for the general and specialized experience for those labor categories requiring a High School Diploma. A master’s degree may be substituted
for two years of general and specialized experience for those labor categories requiring a bachelor’s degree. Substitution shall be reviewed and approved by the State at its discretion.

A. Substitution of experience for education may be permitted at the discretion of the State.

experience at the discretion of the State.
