Freelance: Lighting Technician/Rigger/Event Crew

Elegant Event Lighting is looking for event crew AVAILABLE ON WEEKENDS to deliver, setup and remove draping, chandeliers, dance floors and other unique decor elements for wedding ceremonies and receptions around Chicagoland.

Additional hours are available during the week preparing inventory for events.

Job Summary

• Installation and removal of draping, lighting, dance floors, chandeliers and other specialty decor for wedding receptions and ceremonies in and around Chicago.
• Pay $25-$40/hr based on experience
• 4, 5, 8 and 10 hour calls
• Typically 2 shifts available; setup and strike on the same day.
• WEEKEND HOURS (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Must be available to work weekends
• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend and reach during entire work shift
• Able to stand and/or walk 100% of the work shift
• Ability to work with hands and arms during entire shift
• Must be able to move and climb ladders WITHOUT accommodation or assistance
• Ability to work in high lift
• Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull 30-40 lbs. throughout the shift. Occasionally may move up to and over 100 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to handle fragile items safely
• Must be able to tolerate cold, heat and humid conditions

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in theatrical production or related field required
• 1-3 years of lighting design experience, preferably in an event setting
• Electrical understanding on loading circuits, dimmers and asscociated power distribution equipoment.
• Adept skill in operating lighting and electrical equipment
• Safely hang chandeliers and other decor pieces, hang and focus lekos, run power, operate a lift (scissor or single man), have basic knowledge of DMX, be able to climb ladders, work above their head, and lift upwards of 50 pounds.
