What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Technician (Temp) position at Elegen?
R&D Technician
(On-site, temporary, full-time)
The successful candidate will join the Elegen team to assist prototyping and manufacturing activities. This position will be under the direction of the Sr Director, R&D and will perform work tasks with priority and to appropriate standards and timelines as assigned. This will involve working closely with engineering teams working on projects on-site by providing technical support to prototyping activities. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in engineering, a curious mind for how things are made, and a keen eye for detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The technician will be principally engaged in the following tasks:
- Prepare and cut glass capillaries to size for use in fluidic connections.
- Perform incoming inspection and assembly of microfluidic chip under microscope.
- Prepare appropriate labels and attach to the components.
- Follow work instructions/SOP to set up, operate and maintain lab equipment
- Assist engineers in software testing.
- Assist with material procurement.
- Take ownership of the cleanliness and storage of all tools, materials and surfaces.
- Ensure strict adherence to relevant safety procedures.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & QUALITIES
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree or equivalent experience in life sciences or engineering with at least one-year working in a hardware laboratory.
- Candidate must be highly motivated with good computer literacy and communication skills.
- A basic understanding of the requirements of GLP and GMP.
- Scientific rigour, attention to detail and a willingness to acquire new skills and learn on a daily basis.
Salary and Benefits:
The hourly rate for this role is $28.00-$30.00. Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location. Due to the temporary classification of this role, company benefits will not be provided.
