Director Digital Technology - Americas

Overview :

The Director Digital Technology (DTG) Americas is a pivotal regional leadership role acting as the senior bridge between the regional business and both tactical and strategic digital and technology initiatives. As the Director, you will support the local planning, prioritization, and implementation of Business and Enterprise product and technology initiatives in support of the Regions business plan.

Importantly, you will ensure the region's needs are represented at a global management level within Digital and Technology Group, ensuring that the Regions development and technology strategy agenda is appropriately considered and resources across DTG are planned for and allocated appropriately. In addition, you are responsible to the VP of Global Lab Technology to ensure continuity between regional business strategy / operations and Elements global product and technology efforts.

Responsibilities : Strategy & Planning

Participate in strategic and technology operational governance processes of the Regions business as well as contributing to overall Element product and technology strategy

Represent DTG at all BU meetings and forums on strategic and operational planning to achieve individual business goals by fostering collaboration, prioritizing both tactical and strategic technology initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technology solutions across the region

Develop and maintain an appropriate organizational structure that supports the needs of the regional business and complements both Element and DTGs global structure

Facilitate engagement within DTG for regional goals, highlighting objectives, supporting operating procedures, and communicating these with internal stakeholders

Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in technology products and systems, by collaborating with DTG delivery teams on including reviewing staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and development inputs to ensure success and to further the commercial objectives of the region

Manage, assess and communicate risks (technology, operational, security etc) associated with business and technology change activities to key stakeholders

Ensure regional spend on technology is surfaced and communicated, between BUs and DTG Delivery teams, to ensure it delivers sustained and identifiable benefits to the regional business

Develop business case justifications and cost / benefit analyses for business technology spending and initiatives

Operational Management?

Monitor and ensure continuous delivery of quality technology services through oversight of intra-group and third-party service level agreements with the regional business and the appropriate leverage of the DTG Delivery Teams

Ensure IT systems operation and data management practices adhere to applicable laws and regulations

Keep current with trends and issues in the technology industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate regional executives and management on their competitive or financial impact

Leading, shaping and developing a high-performance team specifically in support of the region and individual BUs. Develop relationships across the DTG Delivery Teams that includes support operations, infrastructure, business applications and security

Provide relevant Management Information (MI) and metrics to track progress against projects and operational performance to both regional and BU leadership, and help the DTG Delivery Teams make more informed decisions around technology investment in the region

Skills / Qualifications :

• Experience of technology strategy definition and implementation
• A proven track record of outstanding planning and project delivery, with particular focus on operational excellence, in a complex multi-site, international enterprise environment
• Recent experience of delivering a transformational change program (People, Process, Technology)
• Passionate about service delivery and continuous improvement to build a robust and responsive offering to support the businesses
• A strong technical background that includes an understanding of applications, infrastructure services and architecture
• Excellent knowledge of cloud-based computing services, collaboration products, technologies and current trends
• A proven and demonstrable leadership, mentoring and coaching ability
• Experience of leading and shaping multi-disciplined, high-performance teams
• Strong ability to communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences
• The ability to manage, forecast and control multi-million opex and capex expenditure and build robust ROI business cases
• Highly effective in a structured, matrix environment using influence and strategic planning to use the full scale of DTG to demonstrable commercial impact in the delivery of technology solutions.
• Extensive vendor / third party negotiation and management experience, ideally including experience of outsource agreements
• Experience of working at a strategic level to be credible and operate effectively at and contribute to the broader Digital and Technology leadership team
• Strong influencing skills to work effectively with the DTG Delivery Teams, your peer group and business stakeholders include BU GMs and BU VPs
• An abundance of common sense and flexibility to deliver and prioritize in a high change environment
