What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labourer position at Element Materials Technology?
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a General Labourer to join our rapidly expanding team in Edmonton. As a member of the operations team, this employee will perform tasks related to cleaning and shipping of sample cylinders and supplies along with various prep tasks within the department. Insuring timely delivery under direct supervision. The successful candidate will become proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare samples cylinders and bags for sampling in a timely and efficient manner. Adjust priorities where required
- Maintain records of shipments
- Assist shipping with preparation of samples for transportation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy.
- Order supplies and consumables in advance of requirement.
- Maintain sample cylinders and valves to ensure that they are in proper working order.
- Communicate delays clearly and quickly
- General duties as directed by the team leader or lab manager.
- Follow procedures for maintenance of equipment required for cleaning. Record when maintenance is performed.
Skills / Qualifications
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
- 0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
- Basic understanding of testing concepts
- Possess computer skills.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Physical Demands:
- Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
- Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs periodically
