What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at Element Materials Technology?
Overview
Element has an opportunity for an Network Engineer (Network and Security) to become part of our growing Infrastructure Engineering team preparing and implementing designs, performing discovery work, capacity planning and supporting PoC initiatives.
The role carries specific responsibilities for Network and Firewall infrastructure analysis, design and implementation within the team.
Responsibilities
- Undertake analysis and costing of potential solutions to support Technology Engineering project delivery activities
- Create suitable designs for new deployment of technologies for the Element Network and Firewall estates.
- Undertake the lead role in project delivery and implementation activities
- Create, maintain and update standards required by Network and Security Engineering and wider teams
- Undertake 3rd/4th level support in collaboration with other teams to resolve complex issues
- Define and design new technology solutions, PoC deployments and migration into support of new solutions and platforms in the Network and Firewall space, and provide ad-hoc assistance to colleagues in the Operations teams
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with design and implementation of IT Network and Security infrastructure within multi-platform and multi-system geographically diverse environments
- Extensive experience of designing and deploying Cisco networking solutions in a large enterprise organizationExperience of designing and deploying Cisco Meraki equipment (MX, MR, MS) in a large enterprise environment
- Experience of designing and deploying and managing Cisco FTD firewalls using FMC management.
- Experience of deploying network connectivity into Cloud hosting platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
- Network Security design and support experience, along with strong Firewall design and deployment experience
- Experience in producing standardized Network and Firewall documentation packs for sites or solutions, including producing documentation from “as-is” deployments.
- Experience in using scripting/automation tools to manage and provision Network and Firewall devicesPrevious experience of operational support of Network, Firewall and Security services in a corporate environment
- Experience of implementing WAN services running on IPSec or MPLS platforms.
- Broad technical knowledge and experience of designing, supporting and troubleshooting Cisco platforms to 3rd/4th level
- Display technical credibility and independent judgment and decision-making experience on Networking matters
- Ability to overcome challenges in remote working such as overseas locations, cultural differences, split time-zones to ensure positive interactions
- Excellent communication and customer facing skills
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills, able to determine the impact of Network issues quickly, combined with sound decision-making skills under pressure
- Demonstrate planning, documentation, and organizational skills
- Experience of delivery using IT infrastructure management practices & standards, ITIL / ITSM principles and practices, & change management in large environments
- Demonstrate understanding of IT security issues in the networking space
