What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at Element Materials Technology?
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Saw Operator (on the 2nd shift) to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Salary range: $21 25/hour DOE $1.00 for shift differential
Responsibilities
- Uses cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing per customer specifications
- Gathers and records dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements
- Work with Supervisor, Machinist/Senior Machinist coworkers to ensure that the job assisgnned is completed on-time based on the committment made by Element to the customer
Skills / Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred
- Basic computer experience, such checking email, and log job details into Element systems
- Must be able to work 2nd shift from 2 - 10:30pm
- Practices strong work ethic and have qualities such a productivity, dependability, professionalism and efficiency.
- 0-2 years’ experience in a machine shop is preferred
- Basic understanding of machining concepts, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts (be able tell the difference in width and length)
- Working knowledge of machine shop and laboratory safety
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry is a plus (to understand layouts)
