Job Title : Process Chemist
Job Description : Element Staffing is recruiting for a Process Chemist for a major chemical company in Houston, TX. The Chemist will be responsible for the daily monitoring of polymer production processes, troubleshooting of the processes, monitoring of product quality, and the development of testing plans to improve quality, reduce costs, and modify product formulations. Candidates with experience in emulsion polymerization are highly desired.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Monitor daily plant production.
- Plan, initiate, monitor, and report on plant trials for existing grade process or production improvements.
- Monitor plant trials of new product grades.
- Troubleshoot polymerization and after-treatment problems.
- Create routine written reports on troubleshooting activities / corrective actions.
- Provide technical support in areas of emulsion polymerization, FT-IR, DTA, DSC, TGA, GC, and UV spectroscopy.
- Perform evaluation by lab work, the validity of new recipes, modification of existing recipes, the quality of supply of raw & sub-raw materials and means of increasing productivity & cost reduction.
- Write monthly summaries.
- Remain current on pertinent areas through literature, technical journals and seminars.
- Investigate and determine cause of process and quality problems.
- Assist Marketing personnel with technical service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
