What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Specialist position at Element U.S. Space & Defense?
The Collections Specialist is responsible for minimizing the company’s DSO (days sales outstanding) by making regular calls to customers and actively working to resolve any customer concerns. This position will report to the Collections Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review open accounts as directed
- Initiate calls in a professional manner to collect payments and settle accounts
- Track collections activity and report status of assigned accounts
- Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements
- Send monthly account statements to customers
- Work with customers to understand payment issues and effectively communicate these issues to the Collections Manager
- Work with and effectively communicate with GMs, PMs, Sales and Operations when required to accelerate the collection process and resolve disputes.
- Follow up on promises to pay and payment commitment accounts as necessary
Requirements:
- Strong problem solving and investigative skills
- Knowledge of Collection procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required

Minimum Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of collection experience
- Good working knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel
