What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Test Technician position at Element U.S. Space & Defense?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform tests and/or measurement tasks for the Mechanical department. Mechanical: The branch of mechanics that deals with hydraulically based parameters, e.g. flows, pressures and specific loads.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Test Setup - Read specifications from technical documents (Test Standards, Customer SOWs, and Test Plans/Procedures), identify/prepare test equipment
• Perform Testing - Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed, troubleshoot, document all pertinent data
• Data Processing - After test completion, verify, review and document all pertinent data. Finalize data and send to the Program Manager
• Lab Maintenance / Post-Test Breakdown - Physically remove test items. Maintain lab by cleaning all equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, organizing supplies
• Other - Perform other duties as assigned
CORE REQUIREMENTS:
• Under General Supervision, can perform certain recurring work independently
• Able to complete intermediate technical and mechanical procedures
• Regular interaction with clients
• Able to troubleshoot and rework standard tests
• Intermediate interpretation and analysis of test results
• Working knowledge of electrical & mechanical principles, working knowledge of basic safety practices; basic understanding of AC/DC circuits
• Able to use all standard mechanical equipment; able to use standard hydraulics-based systems; able to accurately capture all necessary data; basic MS Office skills
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• HS Diploma or GED. Technical Certification, AA or AS degree preferred
• 2-6 Years of experience WORKING CONDITIONS: Test lab with exposure to sudden, loud noises
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
