- Perform chemical analysis and experiments according to established protocols and procedures, ensuring high accuracy and reliability of results.
- Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment such as spectrometers, chromatographs, titrators, and balances.
- Prepare samples and reagents for testing, and document all steps and findings meticulously in lab notebooks and electronic databases.
- Conduct quality control testing to ensure the integrity and precision of results, including routine calibration and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
- Analyze and interpret data from experiments, identify trends, and provide detailed reports to senior management or scientists.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO).
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lab technicians, assisting with technical challenges and offering recommendations for process improvements.
- Assist in the development of new testing methods or modifications to existing ones to improve lab efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ongoing R&D or quality assurance projects as needed, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Keep current on industry developments and new technologies to bring innovative ideas to the lab.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals, lab supplies, and equipment, ensuring timely procurement and proper storage.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with established safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a chemical laboratory technician or a similar role in a research, quality control, or production environment.
- Strong working knowledge of chemical lab techniques, instrument operation, and data analysis.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in handling laboratory equipment and chemical analysis instruments (e.g., GC, HPLC, FTIR).
- Strong analytical skills, with an ability to interpret complex data and troubleshoot issues.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, good laboratory practices (GLP), and regulatory guidelines (OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a specialized area such as polymer chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, environmental testing, or food/beverage quality control.
- Familiarity with laboratory management software and data tracking systems.
- Certification in laboratory safety or chemical handling.
