Field Research Assistant- Jacksonville, FL
The Field Research Intern will support Elemental Enzymes Citrus Research Team by preparing for and harvesting field trials, collecting, and recording data, and preparing and analyzing samples throughout Florida. The Field Research Intern must possess excellent communication and organization skills Ideal applicants are students pursuing a B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, plant science, botany, or agriculture, or have a background in farming.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup, maintenance, and data collection of the Elemental Enzymes field trial program.
- Assist in preparation for field harvest and data collection trips.
- Report and record accurate plant measurements.
- Accurately note and report the progress of field trials
- Assist in the collection of harvest data and crop sample gathering.
- There will be several multi-day trips to yield trial locations around the central Florida with a team of field researchers.
- Assist in sample analysis and accurate recording of collected field samples.
- Additional responsibilities may be added at the discretion of management.
Required Experience
- Some schedule flexibility: availability for multi-day trips to yield trial locations is be required.
- Completed introductory science courses or have some experience with field research or operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to accurately and precisely record data.
- Physically able to work in the field (stand for long periods of time, crouch, bend, and endure working in heat)
- Able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, crouch, stand, kneel, work for extended periods of time, and handle external environmental conditions such as heat, rain, wind, etc.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Time Commitments
- Ability to work 10-20 hours per week plus attend weekly trips
- Ability to work Tuesday-Thursday
