Quality Control Analyst I

 

Elemental Enzymes is looking for a Quality Control Analyst I to play an integral part in ensuring EE’s biochemical products meet excellent quality standards. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks, including assisting in the development QA/QC methods, performing phys/chem evaluations and microbiological tests, and assessing yield, activity, and purity throughout the manufacturing process. The successful candidate will join a team that is passionate about creating sustainable, biochemical-based solutions to agricultural challenges.

 

Job Description:

  • Perform analytical tests, enzyme quantification assays, and microbiological tests
  • Assist in the process and implementation of QA/QC methods, protocols, and systems
  • Prepare and manage samples for testing methods
  • Support writing, evaluation, and updating of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support new analytical testing method development with support from QC Manager, QC Team Lead, or Analytical Chemist
  • Support enzymatic and microbiological assay improvements with support from QC Manager or QC Team Lead
  • Perform routine and longevity testing of incoming raw materials, in-process, and finished goods
  • Support data analysis of QC assay results and documentation
  • Assess yield, activity, and purity throughout manufacturing processes
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards and product specifications
  • Work with R&D, Process Development, and Operations departments to assist in product support andperformance inquiries, both internal and external
  • Take initiative to reduce process variation and product nonconformities
  • Maintain accurate and thorough batch records, document experiments, results, and conclusions
  • Take part in the batch manufacturing of products when demand requires
  • Analyze raw material, in-process, and final product performance. Identify non-conformance and areas of improvement.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to maintain a safe and efficient workplace throughout all of EE’s procedures
  • Effectively communicate results to supervisor and present work to the Manufacturing Team
  • Stay up to date with relevant industry regulations and standards as well as new technologies.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Microbiology
  • Experience working in a quality control / production experience in a cGMP facility preferred.
  • Ability to understand technical process knowledge within area of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently and with others to accomplish goals and priorities.
  • Flexibility and teamwork skills.
  • High level of energy and regular, consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work between multiple locations and remotely with high levels of performance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

  • Extending: Extend self in a direction to complete a task.
  • Stationary Position: Remaining in one position for sustained periods of time.
  • Moving: Moving to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Using fingers for tasks such as typing, picking, or pinching, rather than full hand movements.
  • Transporting: Moving objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Objects can be up to 45 pounds in weight.
  • Manual Handling: Gripping, grasping, or applying pressure to objects using fingers and palms.
  • Operating: Using tools and equipment including a work computer and other office devices such as printers, calculators, etc.
  • Repetitive motion: Engaging in recurring movements of the wrists, hands, or fingers, such as typing, assembling components or pipetting.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    Physical Requirements:
  • Sensory Touch: Assessing the size, shape, texture, or temperature of objects by touch, particularly with fingertips.
  • Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word, including providing detailed or critical instructions clearly, quickly, and accurately. Perceiving sound details at normal speaking levels. Alternative methods of communication can be utilized as necessary.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): The worker is required to wear appropriate PPE as necessary for their role, including but not limited to gloves, safety eyewear, lab coats, hearing protections, and/or respiratory protection depending on the work environment and exposure risks.
  • Environmental Exposure: Those with this position must be able to work in Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory where there may be exposure to biological agents. Individuals with immunocompromised systems may be at increased risk in these environments.
