S&OP (Supply and Operations Planning) Manager
Elemental Enzymes is looking for an experiences S&OP Manager to join our team. The S&OP process integrates demand, supply, and financial planning into a forward-thinking plan based on input from the organization’s key functional areas, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, distribution, and finance. S&OP links strategic plans to operational plans and strives to develop the most beneficial product portfolio and product mix to maximize sales and profit. The best S&OP processes include superior cross-functional participation and engagement from across the organization, working as a team with a specific person in the role of owner.
The S&OP Manager is the subject matter expert for demand planning, network optimization, and capacity planning while supporting various projects including monthly demand plans, consumption models, network and production strategy optimization, integration of new businesses, and new product launches. This leader also facilitates each S&OP meeting to ensure the team is focused on the plan. The S&OP Manager may also need to lead technical initiatives to improve data analysis such as implementing planning software.
Responsibility:
- Manage the aggregation of the demand plan process across product categories and BUs, producing a rolling 12-18 month estimate of unconstrained future demand in units
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to ensure that the promotions, visible impact orders, and new product forecasts are included in the aggregate demand
- Review and analyze the forecast demand versus actual demand, understanding changes and trends
- Document assumptions, promotions, and adjustments to forecasts using Sales and Marketing teams’ input
- Generate a supply plan based on the demand plan, producing a rolling 12-18 supply plan considering constrained manufacturing capacity, product capability, and supply chain lead times
- Balance the demand and supply needs to ensure maximal financial return
- Create and analyze a long-range demand and capacity plan aligning commercial, research & development, process & product development, finance and manufacturing on future growth requirements to create a long-range strategic plan
- Develop, monitor and revise production and sourcing plans, in the short and long term, to optimize the use of manpower, equipment and financial resources while meeting the needs of customers.
- Facilitate monthly demand forecast aggregation, including consensus between functions and stakeholders
- Prepare data and material for monthly S&OP meetings that will facilitate decisions around equipment, labor and all other resources needed to support demand over the S&OP planning horizon.
- Communicate with stakeholders about promotions, new products forecasts, and launch timing updates
- Notify Scheduling and Manufacturing of significant forecast or capacity changes in a timely basis
- Participate in the development of statistical models to optimize safety stocks without negatively affecting customer service levels
- Assist in the resolution of key supply-demand/service-cost issues
- Create and drive continuous improvement of world-class demand planning and S&OP processes
- Measure, control, and improve S&OP plan accuracy through clearly defined metrics
- Lead network optimization process to mitigate costs and maximize service
- Develop capacity simulation processes to run sensitivity analysis for growth

- Proficiency with MRP and ERP Systems such SAP software
- Data-driven with demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems and strong proficiency in Microsoft excel, and other programs such as Access and Tableau
- Capable of identifying and executing data science fields of predictive and prescriptive analytics, such as Monte-Carlo analysis and linear programming, to drive data driven decision making
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics. MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance or equivalent highly desired
- 7-10 years of experience in Supply Chain (Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and Inventory Planning in an environment of both manufactured and sourced finished goods) and/or related supply chain management including design, implementation, and execution of S&OP related processes is required
- 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing plant, such as Manufacturing Management or Manufacturing Engineering is required
- 3-5 years of experience with ERP systems is required
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints working knowledge is required
- Green/Black Belt certification is highly desired
- Must have Statistical and data analysis capabilities
- Must have excellent skills in Excel and other IT software related to data analysis is required
- Experience with project management software and tools
- IBF and/or APICS Certification are highly preferred
Location & Travel: The S&OP Manager position is remote; however, travel is required to the St. Louis headquarters and to CMO sites. Travel up to 25% will be required.
