What You'll Do:
The Engineering Intern provides support to the staff engineers in the areas of mechanical and electrical design, product testing and validation, and quality assurance. The Engineering Intern may also serve as a liaison to, and collaborates with, other departments, including Marketing and Sales. This position has a strong learning component and is intended for those with limited professional experience in engineering or physics.
Challenge Yourself - The Specifics:
- Perform product tests, including mechanical, electrical, chemical and materials, and optical/photometric tests
- Assist in manufacturing process design
- Perform quality assurance and quality control tests on outgoing and returned products
- Document results, prepare test reports and engineering memoranda
- Performs additional duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate:
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles
- Knowledge of optics, photometrics and LEDs are desirable, but not required
- Deep proficiency with using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Discover, learn, and project communication skills that support effective means to communicate data findings
- Ability to respond to and effectively prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to understand and interpret engineering policies and procedures
- Enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college/university or equivalent training and experience
- Previous internship experience in a corporate setting is helpful but not necessary
