Job Summary:
The ELD Teacher supports English Learners (ELs) in acquiring academic English and achieving success in all content areas. This role involves planning, delivering, and assessing English language instruction aligned with state ELD standards, collaborating with general education teachers, and advocating for multilingual students and their families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily designated and integrated ELD instruction to English Learners using research-based strategies.
- Develop and implement lessons aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards and PA Standards.
- Monitor student progress and language proficiency using formative and summative assessments.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of language objectives into content instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English Learners at varying levels of proficiency.
- Support the implementation of district ELD programs and instructional models.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on EL student progress and proficiency levels.
- Participate in CST and IEP meetings as needed.
- Communicate regularly with families, providing resources and support for English language development at home.
- Provide professional development and coaching support for staff on effective ELD strategies.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in English language instruction.
