Job Description
Title: Elementary Enrichment/Gifted Coordinator - .5
REPORTS TO: Principals regarding day-to-day job responsibilities
Director of Student Support Services regarding all enrichment/gifted issues (paperwork, procedures, resources, mandates, etc.)
JOB GOALS:
- To develop and oversee a comprehensive enrichment program for Elementary students, promoting enriching experiences and opportunities through project work aligned to appropriate English Language Arts and Mathematics standards.
- To effectively manage and implement Gifted Individualized Education Programs (GIEPs) for students, as assigned.
- To foster a supportive and challenging learning environment that encourages risk-taking, critical thinking, collaboration and among students.
- To implement a fluid enrichment model that allows for student entry and exit based on ongoing assessment and benchmarking criteria.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate.
- Candidates with K-6 or PK-4 and 4-8 certifications are eligible to apply.
- 3.0 or higher QPA.
- Demonstrated experience in educational enrichment and working with gifted students.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in computer literacy.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and building principals to identify students for enrichment classes and/or GIEPs based on predetermined criteria.
- Develop and implement GIEPs for identified gifted students, as assigned, adhering to district guidelines and timelines, and plan, schedule, and conduct parent meetings to communicate plans effectively.
- Create and execute lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate learning and personal growth among Elementary students.
- Integrate literacy, math, and STEAM concepts into enrichment activities to enhance student learning experiences.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through enriched learning opportunities.
- Implement an inquiry-based approach to learning, utilizing project-based tasks and real-world applications.
- Adapt lesson plans to accommodate varying student needs and ensure optimal instructional time utilization.
- Utilize instructional technologies to engage students and enhance learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment conducive to academic and personal growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents to discuss student progress and program expectations.
- Collaborate with teachers and STEAM educators to share resources, plan lessons, and support student learning.
- Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and monitor student progress.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and self-selected growth activities to maintain professional competence.
- Comply with all building and district procedures and policies.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the South Fayette Township Board of Education and the South Fayette Education Association.
EDUCATION:
Performance in this role will be evaluated by building principals and communicated to the superintendent for review.
