 THIS IS A CONTINUING POSITION FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

Note: This position is open to qualified CERSD employees from March 7 -13, 2025 . Applications from out of district applicants will not be considered until March 14, 2025 Applications will be reviewed as submitted. Position will be open until filled.

  

 

JOB SUMMARY:   Plan, prepare and deliver a quality educational program based upon state standards, district curriculum, IEP goals, and effective instruction to students with diverse needs.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement effective teaching practices for the purpose of facilitating communication, language, academic achievement, behavior management, and social skills for each student.
  • Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards, subject matter content and district curriculum.
  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
  • Develop appropriate IEPs for students including behavior plans.
  • Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction, administering the required State Alternative Assessment, and improving student learning.
  • Maintain and submit information/records including student progress.
  • Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by State and Federal regulations and district policy, including annual IEPs, IEP progress data and progress reports.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement, and meeting special education laws and policies.
  • Utilize effective de-escalation intervention strategies, as needed. 
  • Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.  Meetings may include school and department, eligibility, evaluation and placement.
  • Plan and direct the work of assigned classified staff.
  • Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

 

  • Knowledge of and skills in using various formative and summative assessments.
  • Candidates will commit to meeting all requirements associated with ECEAP teacher certification standards, including any necessary coursework, training, and professional development. Support and resources will be provided to help the selected candidate successfully fulfill these requirements. All requirements must be fulfilled prior to the start of the 25/26 school year.
  • Ability to effectively address a wide range of academic and social needs.
  • Knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction and evaluation.
  • Skills in managing and promoting positive student behavior.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively meet students’ developmental needs.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate positively and effectively with parents, students, staff and administrators.
  • Knowledge of applicable Washington State and federal rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of early child development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sensory integration needs and strategies. 
  • Ability to effectively meet developmental needs of students, including diapering, toileting, feeding, tube feeding, and assisting students with mobility issues.
  • Knowledge of effective research-based curricula and practices in academic, behavior, and social skills areas. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents.
  • Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping.
  • Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability and commitment to engage in relevant professional development in order to strengthen job-related competencies.

EDUCATION: 

  • Valid Washington State certification with appropriate endorsement(s) including Special Education.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful experience as a special education teacher
  • Successful experience working with preschool aged children
  • Early Childhood Endorsement

 

Terms of Employment/Benefits:

  • Affiliation: CEREA
  • Contract: 180 CEREA Contracted Calendar with 4 day supplemental contract
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*
  • Sick/Personal Days: Up to 12 sick days and 3 personal days per year
  • Retirement: Two plan choices available with DRS, Plan 2 and Plan 3.
  • Salary: Based off the CEREA Salary Schedule and depending on verified years of experience, clock hours, and education. Salary currently is showing for 24-25 school year. It will be updated once 25-26 school year is confirmed.
  • A post offer physical is required by our ESD105 Workers Co-Op.

Start Date:

  • August 2025, with exact date provided by June 2025.

*Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
