Primary Role: This position supports Elementary Grades K-5.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Three creditable years of experience as an Educational Aide or 30 hours of college credit, preferred
- Must have or be willing to obtain an Educational Aide III Texas Certification
- Experience working in a classroom and/or working with children
- Ability to provide instruction and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to the many and varied situations in the school environment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with the implementation of accommodations and modifications for students.
- Assist with implementing behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports to support the behavioral needs within the classroom environment.
- Assist teacher in developing lesson plans, material preparation, and collecting data for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and collect data related to academics and behavior.
- Assist in maintaining a learning environment that is structured, organized, and routine-oriented with a variety of instructional formats.
- Assist general education and special education teachers with students who might need extra support with learning skills and social skills within the school setting.
- Exhibit clear communication skills to provide support and strategies to the center program team and school community by modeling and accepting ongoing feedback.
- Assist in implementing skill replacement curriculum focused on successful steps to inclusion, behavior skill development, and social-communication strategies to facilitate engagement in the general education classroom and other extracurricular activities.
- Assist with a variety of assessments that measure progress toward learning outcomes and behaviors that are needed to be successful in the general education environment.
- Assist in communication efforts with staff and families.
- Maintain confidentiality with student records and ensure that information regarding students is shared at appropriate times.
- Facilitate interactions between students and staff and students and their peers.

Work Environment: This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands: This position is very active and involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting Educational Assistant salary for 0 years of experience is $26,066 per year or $17.15 per hour. This role may be eligible for stipends based on assignments which may vary between $500-$1,000. For more information about our compensation, visit our compensation and benefits page.
