An Integrated Grounds maintenance tech is responsible for maintaining gardens or landscaped areas. Their duties include planting gardens, maintaining garden plants, removing unsightly weeds, and monitoring the health of plants.
Gardener duties and responsibilities
A successful Integrated Grounds maintenance tech enjoys working outdoors and has a strong understanding of plant care. They’re responsible for keeping gardened areas healthy and beautiful, with common job duties and responsibilities including:
- Planting all types of plants, including flowers, shrubs and trees
- Maintaining plants by watering, fertilizing and trimming them
- Using and maintaining gardening tools and light gardening machinery
- Identifying and treating diseases, pest infestations and other issues with garden plants
- Cleaning up shrub bed areas
- Providing recommendations for gardens
- Handling edging, mulching and other garden tasks
- Following safety guidelines for applying chemicals and using equipment
- Strong knowledge of plant care and an understanding of various plants’ needs
- Interpersonal skills to communicate plant care information to others
- Attention to detail
- Problem-solving and decision-making to deal with gardening problems
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations regarding landscaping and gardening
- Ability to use various gardening tools
- Comfort working outdoors in all types of weather and natural elements
- Math skills to calculate fertilizer and pesticide application rates and chemical dilutions
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Pay: $19.47 - $20.49 per hour
