Responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provides front and/or back office support.
- Greets patients in a friendly, service oriented manner in compliance with Carelon Health Care Center (CCC) or Medical Group Practice protocols and workflows.
- Oversees patient check in by ensuring medical records/charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed/prepared.
- Interviews patient, measures vital signs, and records reason for visit.
- Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication.
- Oversees patient check out by scheduling follow up appointments, collecting co-payment if applicable, ensuring paperwork is complete.
- Schedules and confirms patient's appointments.
- Reconciles co-payments at the end of each day.
Requirements:
- Requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school of training required.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) may be required.
- For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
- For Simply Health business unit, phlebotomy background strongly preferred.
- Spanish speaking, flexible in traveling to other care centers when needed for coverage.
Job Type: Contract opportunity.
Additional Details:
- This position is a patient/member-facing role.
- Temp work in a care center, assisted living, clinic, member home, or have access to medication.
- 8am-5pm PST Monday-Friday.
- This role will be traveling between both offices below:
- Office Location: 2444 W. Beverly Blvd., Montebello, CA 90640.
- Office Location: 10000 Lakewood Blvd. Downey, CA 90240.
- These positions will be covering and supporting APCs, PCP, cardio, Derm and ESRD. The care centers see over 1,500 members a month.
Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, contractors are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Specific requirements and expectations for time onsite will be discussed as part of the hiring process. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
