Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Math Tutor to work with middle school and high school students. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the California Common Core State Standards and current math instruction practices. This role requires a flexible schedule and a commitment to providing personalized and effective math tutoring.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in mathematics for students in middle school and high school.
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans that align with the California Common Core State Standards.
- Assist students in understanding and mastering complex mathematical concepts.
- Prepare students for standardized tests, school exams, and college entrance exams.
- Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
- Maintain a positive and motivating learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and school administrators to support student success.
- Utilize up-to-date instructional practices and resources to enhance student learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials (preferred).
- Proven experience tutoring or teaching math at the middle school and high school levels.
- Strong knowledge of California Common Core State Standards in Mathematics.
- Knowledge & experience in tutoring the following areas in Mathematics: AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Statistics.
- Familiarity with current math instruction practices and resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for education.
- Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Open availability to accommodate various student schedules, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
- Familiarity with online tutoring platforms and technology.
- Ability to teach additional subjects or provide enrichment activities.
