What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Product Engineer position at Elevate Semiconductor?
At Elevate Semiconductor, our mission is to empower semiconductor and system test customers by delivering world-class test integrated circuits (ICs) that tackle the industry's most complex automated test equipment (ATE) challenges. We pride ourselves on exceeding expectations by designing the lowest power, highest density solutions to achieve the lowest possible cost of test—both today and for the future.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Product Engineer to lead a team of engineers in the validation, characterization, and qualification of new products in the semiconductor test industry. This role involves a combination of hands-on technical work, team leadership, and strategic collaboration with the director of product / test engineering to set the direction for the group.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analog circuit characterization, ATE development, and NPI processes, coupled with excellent lab, data analysis, and management skills. They, along with the team, will be fully responsible for bringing product from Silicon On Dock to Engineering Sample to full volume Production status.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of junior to senior-level hardware and software engineers.
- Set goals, provide guidance, and ensure the team delivers high-quality results on time.
- Collaborate with project management to schedule and track back-end NPI development.
Validation, Characterization & Qualification:
- Perform and oversee validation, characterization, and qualification of analog circuits such as DACs, ADCs, Opamps, PMUs, I/Os, and drivers up to 5GHz.
- Develop and implement efficient test methods for evaluation and production.
- Analyze ATE characterization and shmoo data to debug and validate new silicon.
- Work on qualification tasks, including HTOL, Burn-In, ESD, and latch-up testing.
Technical Expertise:
- Collaborate with design, test, and quality engineering teams for debug and validation of silicon at both the circuit and full-chip levels.
- Read and interpret IC schematics, and work with analog IPs.
- Define and implement PCB evaluation boards, including schematics, layout, and manufacturing processes.
- Design and work with lab automation and bench testing parts to improve efficiency.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work:
- Interface with on-site and off-site test facilities to support validation and production efforts.
- Work with operations teams to ship engineering samples (ES) and production silicon.
- Ensure smooth transfer of NPI parts from SoD (Start of Development) to full-volume production.
Tools & Documentation:
- Leverage tools like JMP, Matlab, and Excel for data analysis.
- Use management tools such as JIRA and Microsoft Project to track progress and resources.
- Employ design tools like Cadence for schematic and PCB design.
- Maintain thorough documentation and reporting to track product development progress and results.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 7 years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, with a focus on analog circuits.
- Proven expertise in characterizing and debugging analog circuits (e.g., DACs, ADCs, Opamps).
- Familiarity with DFT (Design for Testability) and ATE development.
- Experience managing NPI parts from development to full-volume production.
- Strong lab skills and experience with lab automation.
- Proficient in data analysis tools such as JMP, Matlab, and Excel.
- Knowledge of IC and PCB design tools and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with qualification processes like HTOL, Burn-In, ESD, and latch-up testing.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
