General Summary
The IT Financial Analyst is a detail-oriented and analytical professional responsible for overseeing the financial management of capital and expense activities within the IT organization. Serving as the primary point of contact for financial matters related to IT, this role collaborates closely with IT leadership, external business partners, and various Finance and Accounting teams.
Key responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, variance reporting, vendor management, and supporting the capitalization of internal software development labor costs. In addition to financial management, the IT Financial Analyst is also responsible for operations analysis, which includes collaborating with IT departments to develop and track IT metrics and KPIs, as well as preparing monthly reports on financial and operational metrics/KPIs.
This role ensures that all financial and operational activities are accurately documented and aligned with organizational objectives, contributing to the overall efficiency and strategic goals of the IT organization.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting: Perform monthly forecasting, expenditure tracking, and month-end financial close processes for IT activities. Provide variance analysis to track spend against targets, highlighting risks and opportunities to leadership. Assist with monthly reporting to ensure financial performance is communicated accurately, including performance against budget
- Capital & Expense Management: Partner with portfolio leads and project managers to develop and manage monthly capital and expense forecasts. Track and reconcile all financial activities to ensure alignment with budgeted spend, focusing on large consumption items. Prepare and track capitalized labor entries, including software development labor costs, and monthly expense accruals
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of the annual IT budget and participate in interim forecasting activities. Work with the IT leadership team to assess the financial health of the IT portfolio and recommend adjustments as needed
- Vendor & Contract Management: Oversee vendor management activities, including reviewing contracts and coordinating legal approvals for agreements. Review and approve invoices, ensuring proper coding and adherence to budget allocations.
- Headcount & Workforce Management: Track and report headcount data, including onshore and offshore resources, for accurate budgeting and financial reporting
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various internal teams (IT, Finance, Accounting) and external partners to ensure financial goals are met
- Operations Analysis: Collaborate with IT Departments to develop and track IT Metrics/KPI's. Prepare monthly reports for both financial and operational metric/KPI's.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within an IT or technology-related environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and generate actionable insights

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills required); experience with financial systems such as Workday is a plus

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity
- Experience supporting the capitalization of internal software development labor costs, ensuring proper accounting and adherence to capitalization policies
