We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced team of caregivers to assist with the daily care of two children with autism in Port Charlotte, FL. The family recently moved to the area and is in need of immediate assistance.
**Position Details**:
- **Children's Needs**: Both children have autism, are non-verbal, over 300 lbs, and wear diapers. One is mobile, and the other is not mobile.
- **Location**: Port Charlotte, FL
**Schedule**:
We are looking to hire three caregivers with flexible schedules:
1. **Monday, Wednesday, Friday** (daytime)
2. **Tuesday, Thursday** (daytime)
3. **Occasional Evenings/Weekends/Date Nights**
We are willing to work with applicants on scheduling preferences. Ideally, we are looking for a team that can provide consistent, quality care while offering flexibility when needed.
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist with daily activities, including feeding, dressing, diaper changes, and personal care.
- Provide supervision and ensure the children's safety at all times.
- Engage with the children using appropriate, child-centered communication strategies (including non-verbal cues).
- Help with mobility assistance, including transferring the non-mobile child.
- Perform light housekeeping related to the children's care (e.g., tidying up their areas, preparing meals).
- Monitor behavior and provide emotional support as needed.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience working with children with special needs, particularly those with autism.
- Experience with non-verbal children and those requiring physical assistance or willingness to learn.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks (e.g., lifting and transferring children).
- Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
