The Role :
ElevateBio is looking for a motivated co-op or intern to support the Bioinformatics team housed in the Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Core at ElevateBio Basecamp.
Here's What You'll Do :
In collaboration with our sequencing core's wet lab, run and manage a comprehensive sequencing project with a bioinformatics lens. Such projects could include 1) a project comparing the performance and outcome of automated versus manual sample library preparation (e.g., for RNA-seq or DNA target capture). 2) CRISPR single cell RNA-seq screening to compare phonotypes of edited vs unedited human cells. For either project, the Co-Op will help plan the experimental design with wet lab, observe sequence preparation in lab, review sequence run performance, run (and adjust as needed) a processing pipeline in AWS, and analyze results using relevant tools.
Other routine Co-Op tasks will include cloud-based data transfer, presenting to the NGS Core Team / larger groups, and supporting other bioinformatics projects as needed (e.g., run processing pipelines and analysis).
- Collaborate on sequencing experimental design with the NGS Core wet lab and observe sample preparation
- Review sequence performance
- Run cloud-based processing pipelines
- Perform bioinformatics analyses of sequenced data using standard tools (BaseSpace, R / Python, AWS S3 and EC2, Loupe Browser, Seurat)
- Prepare visualizations to convey complex findings (Python / R)
- Assist in routine tasks such as data transfers, present findings at team or department meetings, run other processing pipelines and NGS analysis
