Position Overview:
We are seeking an empathetic and enthusiastic individual who thrives on being engaging and motivated to enrich the experience for our program attendees. As a Community Engagement Facilitator, you will play a hands-on role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to participate fully in day program activities, achieve their personal goals, and build meaningful connections.
The ideal candidate will bring fresh ideas to the table, prioritize taking clients into the community, and ensure they engage in enriching and interactive activities daily. Additionally, you must have experience with de-escalation techniques to effectively manage challenging situations and provide a safe, supportive environment for all participants.
Our home base is in West Jordan, but shifts begin when the first client is picked up in Sandy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate participation in daily activities, skill-building exercises, and community outings.
- Provide hands-on support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal care, assist with meal preparation, and mobility assistance, as needed.
- Must be able to transport individuals to and from the day program using your personal vehicle and ensure safe and timely arrivals.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere by encouraging social interaction and teamwork among participants.
- Assist individuals in setting and working toward personal goals, emphasizing independence and self-confidence.
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the program and during community engagements.
- Document daily progress and ensure adherence to individualized support plans.
- Collaborate with team members, families, and caregivers to provide holistic, person-centered support.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required; additional education in Behavioral Science or Recreation Therapy is preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with I/DD is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for fostering growth and inclusion.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to helping individuals thrive.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle is required.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility, transfers, and other hands-on support as needed.
- Must obtain or possess CPR/FA, Food Handlers and current Driving Record
- Ability to pass federal background checks and meet organizational compliance standards.
