Drone Pilot

Overview
Elevation Aerial Application is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Drone Pilot to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating agricultural drones to apply pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds efficiently and precisely. You will work closely with ground crews and visual observers to ensure safe and accurate applications, adhering to industry regulations and best practices. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot equipment, and a commitment to safety and precision in aerial application.

Duties

• Operate agricultural drones to apply pesticides, fertilizers, and seeds according to flight plans and customer needs.
• Execute drone flight missions, considering weather conditions, field terrain, and application requirements.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, state agricultural guidelines, and environmental safety protocols.
• Monitor drone performance and troubleshoot any flight or equipment issues in real-time.
• Work with loaders and visual observers to maintain communication and ensure smooth operations.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.
• Maintain flight logs and application records, ensuring accurate documentation for compliance and reporting.
• Assist with routine drone maintenance and software updates to optimize performance.
• Engage with farmers and clients to provide insights on application strategies and drone benefits.
• Follow strict safety and chemical handling protocols when working with pesticides and fertilizers.

Experience & Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
• Previous experience with agricultural drone operations or spraying is a plus.
• Knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application processes preferred.
• Ability to analyze flight conditions, adjust application rates, and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with ground crew and clients.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and lifting equipment when needed.
• Experience with DJI Agras or similar agricultural drones is highly beneficial.
• Willingness to obtain necessary state pesticide applicator certifications if required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime
• Weekends as needed

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Agriculture or Drone: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Pesticide Applicator’s License (Preferred)

Location:

Ability to Commute:

• Galax, VA 24333 (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Galax, VA 24333: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
