Job Summary:
The 2nd Shift (2:00pm to 1:30am) Compounding Dept Leader is accountable for coordinating and leading daily compounding activities, managing performance of direct reports, ensuring compounding targets are attained and ensuring quality and safety standards are met, while acting as a core member of the continuous improvement team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compounding team is adhering to our safety guidelines and company core values.
- Assumes accountability for driving execution of daily schedule, ensuring batch targets are met and efficiency is maximized.
- Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager, sets performance goals to align with compounding goals and develops high performing team.
- Complete critical training and for batch assistants and compounders.
- Set daily batching and cleaning priorities in accordance with weekly schedule, and maintain schedule adherence.
- Acts as a key project team member when interfacing with Research & Development and Continuous Improvement teams for pilot batch, scale up, experimental operations and efficiency studies.
- Participate in facility Lean Manufacturing operations through Kaizens, RCAs, Gemba, continuous improvement tools etc.
- Focus on continuous improvement and support the company's Lean Manufacturing Philosophy
- Ensure all documentation of compounding team is completed accurately and batching requirements are followed.
- Maintains detailed awareness of batching progress for all in-process batches and reports.
- Tracks daily KPIs to provide daily direction to the compounding team, communicates challenges and obstacles to Continuous Improvement team and/or support staff and escalates challenges appropriately.
- Promotes positive continuous improvement environment and helps deliver recognition
- Reviews, completes and support completion of controlled and reviewed documents to stay within GMP, OTC and Hemp Authority guidelines.
- Ensures daily, weekly and monthly 5S and housekeeping standards are met.
- Complies with OSHA and GMP regulations.
- Corrects and approves direct reports timecards in the UKG system in a timely manner.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create Batch
- Follow manufacturing instructions and record steps including time, temperature, and mixing speed
- Confirm raw material cut report
- Sign off on raw material addition
- Verify Quality of Batches
- Visually inspect tank and auxiliary equipment prior to use to confirm cleanliness of batching equipment and sign off on compounding worksheet prior to starting batch
- Test initial viscosity, pH, and organoleptic characteristics of finished product
- Maintenance
- Serve as technical support to compounding team if issues arise on shift, escalate to maintenance, as necessary.
- Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of compounding/manufacturing environment
- Ability to manage allocation of floor responsibilities among team members
- Ability to identify areas of improvement, write and implement CAPAs
- Ability to maintain and modify job order schedule
- Trouble shoot technical challenges and provide solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; 2-year technical degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of Leadership experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of compounding experience in cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical or related industry
- OTC/FDA experience preferred.
- Ability to read write and speak English.
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical computations.
- Ability to operate computers and relevant inventory management scanners/system.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 50lbs and move 100lbs daily
- Ability to work in manufacturing environment around heavy machinery.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as business needs require.

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are disclosing the compensation range for roles that will be, or could be, performed in Colorado. Compensation for similar positions located outside of Colorado may differ.
If performed in Colorado, the base salary for this position generally ranges between $75,000 - $85,000,. This is a second shift position and the hours are 2:30pm to 1:30am. This salary range may vary based on relevant factors including but not limited to experience, education, performance, scope of responsibilities, location and other considerations permitted by law.
