Job Description:
The Payroll Specialist role is a hands-on position that requires the ability to manage all aspects of payroll processing, including multi-state payrolls. This individual will be responsible for verifying timesheets, handling direct deposits, processing wage garnishments, and working with management regarding payroll-related matters.
Responsibilities:
- Process multi-state, weekly, and biweekly payrolls in a timely and accurate manner.
- E nsure proper tax filing for federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including updates to all tax rates.
- Process all off-cycle and special payroll runs, including bonuses, incentives, and other special payments.
- Maintain and modify vacation tables and codes as needed in ADP Workforce Now.
- Conduct audits on time records, payroll changes, and employee salaries, deductions, and taxes to ensure accuracy.
- Perform a full payroll reconciliation after each payroll run.
- Process child support, wage garnishments, and other payroll-related court orders.
- Process manual checks, including final paychecks and replacement checks.
- Support employment maintenance in the system, including compensation updates and employee personnel action changes.
- Assist with benefits administration, including new enrollments, open enrollments, life events, and wellness initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now.
- 3 years of experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Experience assisting with benefits administration and retirement plans.
- 2 years of experience working with Excel, including advanced formulas, such as VLOOKUP.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current Human Resources laws and regulations.
- Ability to make effective decisions, work with all levels of employees, and exhibit diplomacy and professionalism in all interactions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local, state, and federal employment and wage and hour laws, recruitment trends and technologies, and staffing and employment practices.
