Elexity is enabling the transition to a clean energy future.

We offer a whole-building approach to energy management systems that spans battery energy storage, EV chargers, solar, and HVAC load control to take commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential buildings and make them grid-responsive, energy efficient, and lower cost to keep operating comfortably.

We are hiring a Senior Energy Analyst to accelerate analysis of energy price and usage data for customers, prospects, partners, and internal users. Energy savings and economics are at the heart of what we do. In support of business development and product development, the Senior Energy Analyst will :

  • deliver economic analysis including savings reports to our customers
  • analyze expected savings at prospective sites for our customers and partners
  • defend above results in presentations to management team
  • research and model site economics, operating strategies, and enrollment procedures for demand response programs in multiple markets
  • specify improvements to our utility tariff analysis engine
  • specify improvements to our control algorithms
  • run site simulations of different hardware configurations, control strategies, load control programs, and tariff choices

In this cross-functional, high-impact role, you will get a crash course in renewable energy, load flexibility, and the future of the grid. If you want to grow your career and help prepare our energy system for a 100% renewable grid, this position is for you.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Quantitative understanding of energy economics and energy systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (energy systems, engineering, economics, data science, statistics, operations research, mathematics or similar).
  • Minimum 5 years doing data analysis and data visualization in Python; you wake up wondering what new tricks you can make pandas dataframes and matplotlib do.
  • SQL skills a plus.
  • Strong economics and time-series analysis experience required. You will be modeling complex utility tariffs beginning in Week 1, so that better appeal to you.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Must be comfortable in a customer facing role.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Familiarity with modeling of behind-the-meter energy projects a plus
  • Familiarity with solar energy, energy storage, building controls, commercial electric rates, demand response, virtual power plants (VPP) and utilities are all major pluses
  • An ideal candidate will be capable of working directly with customers, partners and cross functionally within the organization across sales, product management and engineering. You should be comfortable following the established process for high-quality analysis of customer-specific demand and energy savings (both expected and delivered), but also able to come up with (a) improvements to that process, and (b) new and creative ways to execute when given imperfect or partial information. You should be comfortable working with large amounts of data in Python and Excel, and able to run and document complex, multi-step analysis on that data.

    Elexity is an early

  • stage company; you will have a significant impact on the progress of the whole company. If your only experience is at a giant company with lots of administrative support, beware – you’re an “Army of One” on most projects. Experience in an entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
  • This position is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to make an immediate impact.

    Location, Compensation and Benefits

  • Preferred location is Portland, OR. Full
  • time remote is possible for the right candidate.
