The Plant Controller functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively report on, manage and control the local facility costs and provide analysis of the financial results and costs. It is the role's responsibility to report and analyze the financial situation and to drive strong performance. This position performs the essential functions for the facility to which he/she is assigned. This position will report to the Herkimer VP of Operations and have a dotted line reporting structure to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the ELG Utica Alloys Group or his/her designee.

Competencies
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting or finance
- Experience: 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing industry as plant controller
- Must have strong technical and analytical skills with solid cost accounting background
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and capable of quickly becoming proficient with company's ERP systems
Job Duties
1. Review financial transactions, ensure they are correctly coded
2. Review and analyze costs, identify trends, and prepare reports
3. Analyze monthly operational and financial results and present to local management
4. Prepare annual budget for the plant for upload into parent company’s consolidation software
5. Prepare monthly forecasts to be shared with the EUA Group
6. Prepare analyses of performance and identify trends and opportunities for cost reductions
7. Develop, maintain, and distribute weekly reports to drive proactive profitability management
8. Develop labor and operating cost benchmarks, analyze costs and product mix and evaluate costs compared to those benchmarks
9. Support for the Commercial department in analyzing product margins, pricing, product mix and costing of materials.
10. Analysis and support concerning working capital efficiencies
11. Analysis of KPIs
12. Support local implementation of Group initiatives
13. Compare costs to budgetary and forecast expectations, and work with operations group to identify variances and develop actions as appropriate.
14. Maintain and further refine the plant’s cost accounting as a basis for performance analysis and product costing
15. Provide customer and product profitability calculations supporting appropriate pricing and contracts
16. Support analysis of capital investment projects and related decision making in accordance with corporate guidelines
17. Track capital cost spending and develop schedules of projected spending
18. Work closely with material control and operations to analyze and report on inventory planning and inventory deviations throughout the year
19. Work closely with Suppliers and vendors, track costs and identify areas for improvement and lower cost
20. Act as an active member of the plant’s management teams including participation in key meetings
21. Continuously improve methods and tools in plant controlling in close cooperation with local management and Group Finance
22. Other duties as assigned

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting, but will have to frequently walk the shop floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
Physical Demands
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
2. This is mostly a sedentary role. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs.
Travel
Employee may need to travel occasionally to visit other ELG locations, seminars, etc.
