Pharmacy Clerk Job Responsibilities
Serves patients and pharmacy proactively by ensuring quality, preventing deficiencies, and improving protocols in the processes and measures implemented and maintained across the pharmacy. Periodically performs conformance audits.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Associate’s Degree or higher, preferred. Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record free of disciplinary restrictions.
Health Status Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Responsible to: Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist-In-Charge or Lead Technician
Technical:
· Competent with CPR , WinRx, and Point of Sale system (POS)
· Competent with partner programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Must be proficient in written and spoken English with good communication skills.
Job Goals:
·Supports pharmacological services under the direction of the Pharmacist-In-Charge, and/or Pharmacy Manager and/or Lead Technician by supporting pharmacological services to include running the cash register, stocking, answering the phone, and maintaining cleanliness of the pharmacy.
General Job Duties
- Establishes positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Displays a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
- Promotes corporate culture by providing quality, comprehensive services to all customers through a team approach.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
- Oversee return-to-stock in timely manner including calling patients.
- Send new customer thank you letters daily and other means for customer retention and medication adherence.
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be available to work flexible hours.
- Performs other duties as required.
Performance Responsibilities
· Restocks supplies and keeps accurate records of what materials are coming in and going out of the pharmacy. In addition, use cash registers and must be quick and accurate.
· Generates revenues by calculating, recording, and issuing charges.
· Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
· Assists with pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
· Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
· Maintain and update files and patient records accordingly.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
