Job Description
The body shop estimator is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources. This will ensure an adequate sales volume which will help provide a reasonable operating profit. The following is a list of duties broken into sections which if followed will help the estimator achieve success and attain the criteria expected in his position's responsibilities.
CUSTOMER & INSURANCE RELATIONSHIP DUTIES
All customers must be greeted promptly and given a fair estimate on the cost and time of the completion of body repairs.
All reasonable deadlines must be met and proper communication must be accomplished accordingly.
All insurance adjusters and appraisers must be handled cordially and professionally.
All repair bills need to be written that will create a reasonable profit for the facility.
All customer complaints must be handled in a cordial and professional manner.
All adjustments on body and paint repair must be approved by the customer and insurance adjuster.
Jobs will be scheduled through communication with the shop foreman to ensure accurate delivery dates.
All customers must be updated with accurate deadlines at all appropriate times.
All jobs must be given a final inspection to ensure all requests were completed correctly.
Final billing for completed repair orders must be completed before job completion notification is given to the customer.
Collection policies on all monies on body and mechanical repairs must always be followed.
Payment destination and arrival time must be determined within 24 hrs of liability acceptance and customer approval.
All supplements must be completed with insurance approval before the car is released.
The customer waiting area must always be kept clean and organized.
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USE
All estimates must be line matched and entered into the management system.
All invoices must be entered into management system.
All files must be audited to ensure that management system gives an accurate Gross Profit.
