We are seeking a hands on Vice President (VP) of Finance to setup and operate our finance and accounting operations. Responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategies of the organization. The VP of Finance shall lead a management team and collaborates with other senior management to ensure financial stability, growth, and alignment with the company's overall business goals. This position plays a critical role in developing financial plans, managing budgets, forecasting future financial trends, and providing strategic recommendations based on financial data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Planning and Analysis: Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the company’s long-term goals. This includes financial modeling, scenario planning, and evaluating the financial impact of major business decisions.
- Financial Reporting: Overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. The VP of Finance ensures that financial reports comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Leading the annual budgeting process and providing regular financial forecasts. The VP works closely with department heads to align departmental budgets with overall company objectives and priorities.
- Cash Flow and Liquidity Management: Managing the company’s cash flow to ensure that there is sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs while optimizing returns on investments and minimizing risks.
- Risk Management: Identifying financial risks and implementing strategies to mitigate those risks, including managing credit, market, and operational risks.
- Team Leadership and Development: Leading and mentoring the finance team, ensuring that the department has the necessary skills and resources to meet organizational goals. The VP of Finance fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture within the team.
- Investor Relations and Fundraising: Managing relationships with investors, stakeholders, and external financial partners. The VP may be involved in fundraising activities, including securing loans or managing equity financing.
- Tax: Federal, state and city taxes. Tax planning and reporting K-1s to shareholders, etc.
The VP of Finance will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and work closely with other senior leaders in the organization. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and advanced financial acumen are essential for success in this role.
Pre-requites:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administrative is required (A Master’s degree is preferred)
- Minimum of 8 years accounting experience, preferably 10
- Ability to manage and adjust to a diversified base of businesses
- Large accounting firm or large corporation experience a plus
- A mind focused on efficiency and productivity
- Preferences will be given to candidates that are Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
