SUMMARY OF POSITION This position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC machining programs for precision manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, machining processes, and CAD/CAM software, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. This position requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position will report directly to the Director of Specialty Manufacturing. Actual Job Duties –Essential Functions Responsibilities Include: • Develop and write CNC programs using Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, or other CAD/CAM software. • Set up, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC machines to improve production efficiency. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents. • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for optimal machining performance. • Conduct test runs and first-article inspections to validate program accuracy. • Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability. • Maintain and update CNC programs to meet evolving production needs. • Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, AS9100, or other industry-specific requirements). • Diagnose and resolve programming or machine-related issues to minimize downtime. • Train and support machinists on CNC machine operation and best practices. • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, machine settings, and process improvements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Proficiency in G-code, M-code, and CAD/CAM software. • Strong understanding of metal and composite materials, tooling, and machining techniques. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and schematics. • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis preferred). • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Must be able to work between the hours of 7:30am to 3:30pm OR 3:30pm to 12:00am (depending on assigned shift) with some overtime as required
