What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intervention Volunteer position at Elijah Rising?
Elijah Rising sends teams of trained volunteers out every Friday night on direct outreach and intervention to meet victims where they are being exploited. These intervention teams offer resources, an exit hotline, prayer, and the love of Jesus to every man and woman they encounter.
To join a team you must fill out an application and go through our training process. We also ask that intervention volunteers commit to volunteering at least once a month.
Role Title: Intervention Volunteer
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Summary: Intervention Volunteers assist in interventions run all throughout the Houston area. These take place at various sexually oriented businesses such as illicit massage businesses, strip clubs, and cantinas. Volunteers demonstrate the love of Jesus to the women encountered in these businesses by engaging them in conversations, bringing gifts, and offering prayer to anyone who needs it.
Required Duties and Responsibilities
- Following the directions given by the site leader.
- Responsible for engaging with all women, buyers, and traffickers possibly encountered in a considerate and professional manner.
- Must sign Elijah Rising liability waiver.
- Practice Abuse Risk Management Activities.
- Adhere to all guidelines given by Elijah Rising found in training modules.
- High degree of personal integrity.
- Communicate and document testimonies from the outreach to the Team Leader.
Qualifications
- Have watched all training videos
- Obtained a background check
Other Requirements
- Must comply by the Elijah Rising Statement of Faith
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
- Occasionally required to climb stairs, bend or stoop, kneel or crouch
