The Logistics Lead will oversee and manage the transportation and distribution of goods, inventory control, and coordination of shipping activities. The Logistics Lead will ensure the timely and efficient delivery of materials, optimize costs, and maintain compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
What you'll be doing:
- Truck Booking & Scheduling: Book trucks for loads and schedule delivery appointments with receiving locations to ensure timely deliveries and shipments.
- Electronic Logging: Maintain and monitor all Electronic Logging Device (ELD) logs via the corporate site, ensuring that logs are up to date and checking for any violations.
- Documentation & File Maintenance: Organize and maintain files related to drivers, receipt documents, spreadsheets, and other logistics-related documentation. Ensure records of loads and associated costs are accurate and easily accessible.
- Fuel Card Management: Review and address any issues related to the usage of company fuel cards, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Load Optimization: Review weekly loads and assess logistics strategies from a financial perspective, ensuring optimal cost savings for Traditions.
- LTL Load Coordination: Maintain documents and notify carriers for Less-than-Truckload (LTL) shipments on a weekly basis. Coordinate shipping requirements to ensure timely and cost-efficient deliveries.
- Vendor Coordination: Schedule weekly pickups of raw materials that need to be transported from vendors to our facility, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Freight Rate Comparison: Shop freight loads from multiple carriers to ensure Traditions receives the best rates for deliveries and shipments. Keep detailed records of freight rates in a spreadsheet for future reference.
- Vehicle & Trailer Management: Coordinate and organize files for lease vehicles and trailers, ensuring that all related documents are in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Inventory Coordination: Oversee and organize inventory records both onsite and offsite (including our facility in Pearl, MS). Ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and address any discrepancies promptly.
- Forklift Warehouse Experience: Operate forklifts when necessary to assist with warehouse operations, ensuring smooth and safe handling of materials and products.
- System Proficiency: Use Microsoft Office, Excel, and inventory software to manage and report logistics data, including data entry, creating reports, and maintaining accurate records.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experienced with data entry into inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with vendors, carriers, and internal teams.
- Experience operating forklifts and knowledge of warehouse operations.
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, and lift a minimum of thirty pounds.
The pay rate is $24.00/hr.
