What are the responsibilities and job description for the DD Overnight Awake Counselor position at Eliot Logo?
Eliot is seeking an overnight awake counselor for their developmental disabilities residential program. Our ideal candidate would have six months experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
Eliot’s Developmental Disabilities Division is an individual-centered continuum of services that provides innovative and high quality programming to adults with developmental disabilities. The programs offer support and opportunities for individuals to enrich their lives, obtain housing and employment, develop personal skills and competencies, and enjoy a full range of community activities while developing a network of caring relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Remain awake, alert and responsive to the needs of individuals throughout the scheduled shift.
- Provide support and training in the areas identified within the I.S.P. to promote personal growth and accomplishment (may include assistance with personal care and hygiene, as required).
- Administer medication according to MAP regulations
- Perform housekeeping tasks as necessary.
- Report all maintenance and safety issues to supervisor.
- Report significant health, psychiatric and behavioral issues to Program Manager
- Attend and participate in meetings and trainings
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and six months of experience working with intellectually disabled or brain injured adults.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the population.
- Computer literacy and skill in the use of computers and related software applications required.
- Ability to consistently meet all necessary background and credentialing requirements.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work and for the transportation of clients to and from appointments and activities as needed.
- Must have reliable telephone notification system for emergency contact.
- Must be proficient in English and possess and convey effective verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and service providers.
- Demonstrate effective, solution focused problem solving skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationship with clients, staff, co-workers and supervisor.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural groups.
Schedule: Tues/Thurs 11pm-9am(20hrs)
