Eliot is seeking a House Manager in Worcester with experience working with children and adolescents in a residential setting. In addition our ideal candidate will have experience with food handling and have the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural groups.
Eliot’s juvenile justice programming includes a residential network for youth ages 13 to 21 who are court involved and need placement while awaiting return to court, assessment or longer term treatment. These highly structured, self-contained programs offer a comprehensive intervention for juvenile offenders.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency with three years related experience with population preferred.
- Two years’ experience working in a food service environment, to include proficiency with food safety regulations, health codes and sanitary practices.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work and for the transportation of clients as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain on-site records. Conduct weekly audits to ensure compliance.
- Plan and/or follow/prepare a weekly menu consisting of well-balanced nutritious meals that meet USDA requirements ensuring proper taste / temperature.
- Order, purchase, shop and inspect all food for quality and quantity prior to serving.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with food suppliers and use comparative shopping among suppliers for best prices.
- Ensure the Culinary Arts Vocational curriculum is established and functional in the assigned program.
- Work with youth to teach food service skills in accordance with the Culinary Arts Curriculum.
- Participate in Food Bank, Eliot Distribution Center and other bulk buying programs.
- Obtain and maintain certification in Serve Safe and Sanitation Standards.
- Keep inventory of all supplies on hand and order supplies as needed.
- Oversee facility and vehicle maintenance and upkeep. Submit work orders as needed and maintain mileage forms.
- Ensure that certifications and appropriate licenses are up to date and posted, including health, fire and building inspections and Serve Safe and Sanitation Standards.
- Be a positive and professional role model for residents and staff maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to allow for programmatic needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
