What are the responsibilities and job description for the Racial Equity Advocate position at Eliot's?
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to advance racial equity in our new unarmed crisis response program. At Eliot, we are committed to identifying and dismantling barriers that prevent people with marginalized racial identities from actualizing their full employment potential.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable communities, lived experience with issues facing vulnerable communities, and skills in establishing supportive relationships. They will be able to connect community members with available services, facilitate warm handoffs, and work collaboratively with other responders to mediate and de-escalate conflict situations.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to requests for assistance with mental and behavioral health, homelessness, addiction, and other issues.
- Build community trust and confidence in our organization among BIPOC, low-income, and marginalized populations.
- Model a social justice, anti-racism approach in daily work.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with vulnerable communities.
- Lived experience with issues facing vulnerable communities.
- Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources in Lynn and/or surrounding communities.
