Job Summary:
As our Assistant Controller, you’ll be an essential part of our accounting team, helping us maintain accurate financial records and supporting daily operations. You’ll assist with everything from processing invoices and managing accounts to preparing financial reports and budgets. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the success of a growing, employee-owned company and help keep our financial operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable to keep financial processes flowing smoothly.
- Track and process invoices and payments, ensuring funds are received in a timely manner.
- Assist in bank reconciliations and ensure financial transactions align with company records.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and help with budgeting.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial transaction records.
- Contribute to other accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist with general administrative tasks, including answering phones and scheduling meetings.
- Take on special projects and help us improve processes across the board.
- Help manage our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and ensure the continued success of our employee-owned company.
- Administer inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) tracking.
- Process EDI orders and handle customer credit processing and adjustments.
- Support sales tax submissions and other compliance activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience or a 2-year Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
- Skills: Familiarity with accounting software, basic accounting principles, and a strong aptitude for working with numbers.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with ERP systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for accuracy in financial data.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently but also collaborate effectively as part of a team.
