Job Summary:

Elite Building Services is seeking a Controller. Ideally this is an onsite position, but we are open to hybrid or remote options for the right candidate. This role will oversee the accounting and financial activities for this location, as well as intercompany activity with US locations and the corporate office. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing specific accounting and analytical functions using the various systems, procedures, and time schedules. This role will work closely with Operations Management personnel and will direct financial analysis, budget, cost controls, and reporting.

  Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervisory responsibility to oversee accounting department staff.
  • Budget preparation, financial forecasting, audit preparation and support, and IRS compliance
  • Treasury management
  • Retirement plan management, audit, and compliance
  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Multi-state sales tax and payroll experience (including certified payrolls)
  • Works with the CFO and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Provide reliable, consistent, and timely information for Functional Managers and Senior Management
  • Ensure prompt and comprehensive responses to queries and assignments from Senior Management
  • Perform complete and accurate month end closing duties and reporting.
  • Complete Balance Sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform P&L variance analysis and notes, focusing on the drivers of the business results.
  • Detailed gross profit analysis (ex: Sales, Supplies, Labor, Overhead, and Delivery Costs)
  • Job costing calculation experience and analysis
  • Communicate operating and financial information and analyses to Functional Managers with P&L ownership responsibility
  • Support Operations Management in driving for improved financial and operating results
  • Use ERP and other systems to provide regular and relevant information to decision-makers.
  • Experience supporting software implementations
  • Study long-range economic trends and project impact on future growth in and market share
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to identify opportunities for expansion into new product areas.
  • Conduct ad hoc operational studies to validate standard vs. actual data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Identification of areas for process improvements and waste reduction
  • Other duties as required.

Required Education / Skills / Abilities:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics; CPA license preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Accounting, Finance or FP&A with demonstrated career progression
  • 2 plus years in a leadership role managing direct reports
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Proficiency in MS Office and computer systems are required with advanced knowledge of MS Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Previous experience with ERP systems; Quickbooks online experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and team skills with the ability to set priorities
  • Ability to work independently in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present in a professional environment
  • Ability to understand operational processes and correlate with performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to various working environments
  • High level of autonomy and sense of personal responsibility in achieving success
  • Strong desire for expansion of knowledge and a willingness to learn

The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required and assigned from time to time.

Safety

Employees are expected to follow all facility safety guidelines that include adhering to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety as outlined during their training.

Working Conditions:

Primarily a controlled office environment; occasional travel for seminars, errands, etc. Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
