Environmental Safety & Health Specialist (ES&H)
Location: Pasco, WA
Elite Construction & Development is seeking a dedicated safety professional to serve as the on-site safety representative for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for workplace safety and compliance.
Position Overview
As a Environmental Safety & Health Specialist (ES&H), you will play a critical role in enforcing and developing safety policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. You will collaborate with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and other leaders to identify, mitigate, and control hazardous conditions while supporting the company’s commitment to zero-incident safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce safety policies and implement corrective actions to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and contribute to project-specific safety programs.
- Conduct pre-construction planning meetings with subcontractors to review site safety plans and job hazard analyses.
- Prepare pre-planning activities and tasks for subcontractors and trades.
- Generate project safety reports, calculate metrics, and recommend improvements.
- Deliver safety training and orientations to employees and subcontractors.
- Conduct company-wide safety training initiatives.
- Actively manage regulatory exposures to achieve zero citations.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and stay informed of industry trends.
- Participate in industry organizations such as AGC as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company and client information.
- Support business initiatives and execute ad hoc projects as directed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or related discipline.
- 2 years of full-time safety experience, preferably in construction or similar industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in safety and health roles.
- Safety credential such as CHST or CSP.
- Experience with industrial hygiene equipment, analytical lab processes, and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Relocation is not authorized for this position.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and meet Hanford badging requirements.
- Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.
- Pre-employment drug screening required.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to safely navigate construction job sites.
- Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
- Candidates are typically hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on qualifications and skills.
