- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations required for the dental profession (e.g. HIPPA, OSHA, etc.).
- Perform dental cleanings (scaling and polishing) to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
- Conduct comprehensive oral health assessments, including screening for signs of gum disease, cavities, and oral cancer.
- Take and develop dental x-rays as needed for diagnostic purposes.
- Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition counseling.
- Provide individualized oral hygiene instructions tailored to each patient's needs.
- Perform periodontal charting to monitor gum health and track changes over time.
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, such as fillings, extractions, and root canals.
- Document patient treatment records accurately and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and communicate treatment plans to patients.
- Stay updated on latest developments in dental hygiene techniques, technologies, and regulations through continuing education.
The person chose for this position will have:
- Graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- A current State of TN license as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
- CPR certification.
- Nitrous Oxide certification.
- Proficiency in using dental instruments and equipment.
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role.
- Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job.
