Optical Team Member- Job Description
Clinical Optician
Lead patients through the selection and fitting for new glasses or sunglasses. Utilize effective questioning to understand function as well as budget in order to maximize time investments. Interact directly with patient in dispensing and training them on the care and product quality of their new eyewear. Interface with patients on repairs and adjustments of frames. Check in eyewear for patient notification while verifying that all lenses were correctly ordered and received. Lead patient inquiries in troubleshooting to resolve issues with selected eyewear or patient issues. Assemble and mount lenses into frames. Assist doctor in exam room and hear direct recommendations to eliminate baton pass and miscommunication between patient and doctor.
Check In/Out
Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them. Interface with patients and balance a manageable patient flow during check-in and check-out procedures. Maintain an understanding of all accepted insurance plans and benefits. Collect all copayments, deductibles and fees due at the time of appointment. Run necessary reports at the close of each business day to reconcile cash drawer/credit card transactions and submit accurate report/deposit information to the Practice Director. Actively pursue strategies to increase patient retention through pre-appointment process.
Team Player
Contribute to a positive patient experience by ensuring the office appearance and process of care from greeting to retention consistently exceeds patient expectations. Exhibit the values of the optometry practice through communicating gratitude, value of products and services and transparent billing procedures. Provide back-up for incoming calls, patient scheduling, greeting patients, and providing for other duties within your department as well as other eyecare duties as needed.
