Property Accountant

About the Role
This is a newly created opportunity for a Property Accountant to join a growing real estate firm. The role offers hands-on financial statement preparation and will require experience with MRI or Yardi software. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of property accounting experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements and perform variance analysis against budgets.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Generate monthly reports using data from legal, construction, and operations teams.
✔ Property Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee tenant billing processes, including rent collection and dispute resolution.
- Work closely with legal teams to resolve billing inquiries.
- Perform bank reconciliations for operational, mortgage, and escrow accounts.
- Ensure compliance with debt agreements and lender requirements.
✔ Budgeting & Audits
- Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets.
- Support external audits and tax filings.
- Address inquiries from internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
✔ Special Projects
- Take on ad hoc projects as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
✔Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience (real estate experience is a must).
- Proficiency in Excel with strong analytical abilities.
- Experience with MRI or Yardi accounting systems is a plus.
✔Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills—ability to work with multiple teams.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
