Overview:
At ELITE Public Schools, teachers are leaders—facilitators of learning and culture within their classrooms and collaborative teams. We are seeking a passionate Music Teacher who can cultivate a rich, student-centered learning environment that affirms each student’s voice and creativity through music. This teacher will support the development of core academic skills while engaging students in hands-on exploration of music theory, performance, and composition across various genres and cultures.
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to equity, culturally responsive instruction, and whole-child development. The Music Teacher will collaborate with the principal, instructional leaders, full-service community school liaisons, and support staff to create a learning environment that is rigorous, joyful, and inclusive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a safe, inclusive, and academically engaging classroom environment.
- Deliver standards-based instruction in music aligned with Common Core and state arts standards, ensuring students are prepared for academic and creative success.
- Plan and implement lessons with a focus on guided listening, music analysis, performance, improvisation, and composition.
- Use music to support cross-curricular learning, emphasizing reading, writing, and creative expression.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English learners, students with special needs, and diverse learners.
- Utilize Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices, and Trauma-Informed strategies to support student success and a positive classroom climate.
- Actively participate in ELITE’s professional learning community—collaborating with grade-level and content-area teams to analyze data, reflect on practice, and implement action plans.
- Build strong relationships with students and families to foster trust, engagement, and academic growth.
- Maintain consistent communication with families through the parent portal and other channels to share student progress and encourage partnership.
- Support schoolwide goals and planning efforts, including implementation of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), and School Safety Plan.
- Organize or support musical performances, showcases, or integrated arts events to highlight student learning and talent.
- Plan learning trips or community-based experiences that support college readiness and expose students to arts and cultural institutions.
- Integrate technology into instruction to support music production, digital literacy, and project-based learning.
- Participate in coaching, evaluations, and goal-setting with school leadership.
- Serve as a representative of ELITE in the school community and support school clubs, extracurriculars, and performances.
- Collaborate with the Full-Service Community Schools Liaison to support students’ social-emotional and academic needs through Student Success Team plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience serving a diverse student body preferred.

- Strong belief in student potential and the importance of access to high-quality music education.
- Experience designing lessons that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and cultural relevance.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
- Valid California Teaching Credential with authorization to teach music (or intern-eligible).
- Bilingual and/or CLAD/BCLAD certification, or coursework in progress, preferred.
- Sufficient subject matter competency as required under Title 5, California Code of Regulations Sections 6111, 6112, and other applicable laws.
- Valid California Driver’s License.

Pay: $56,320.00 - $90,379.00 per year
